about

I have been fortunate to have played music with fiddle-player Andy Dickson for many years. I got the first tune from him during a field trip to his house near Ballynahinch. He had originally composed it as a reel in A Major, but having been advised by him to ‘do what I liked’ with it, I thought it would try it as a hornpipe in D, as it seemed to have that kind of swing to it. The second tune is one of the many ‘Blackbirds.’ I learned it many years ago, but I can’t remember where from.
